Creatures of the Nether, End and Realms
The creatures of the Nether, the End, the Aether, the Otherside, Eternal Starlight, the Twilight Forest and the Astral Dimension, with mob counts per mod and notes on spawning.
This page covers the creatures that live outside the Overworld: the Nether and End mods, and the five modded realms. It belongs to Mobs & Creatures. The Overworld has its own page, Creatures of the Overworld, and the bosses are on Bosses.
The counts are mob types per mod, bosses included, using the counting rule of the hub. Nytheria has nine dimensions in eight realms; the Astral Dimension and Setback count as one realm.
How to read this page#
Each realm has a short list of its own mobs and a note on how they spawn. Examples are English names from the mods' language files. "Boss-type" means a creature the mod treats as a boss; the Bosses pages decide which of them show a boss bar. Spawn code was not read for several mods, so places that come only from a mod description are marked "description".

The Nether#
Two mods are dedicated Nether creature mods, and several others add a few creatures.
| Mod | Mob types | Creatures | Spawn |
|---|---|---|---|
| 6 | Firefly, Flying Pig, Hydrogen Jellyfish, Jungle Skeleton, Naga, Skull | 22 Better Nether biomes with spawner lists | |
| 8 | Corpor, Piglin Hunter, Piglin Prisoner, Warped Enderman, Wex, Wither Skeleton Knight, Wither Skeleton Horse, Wraither | Nether (description) |
In Better Nether the Firefly, Skull and Hydrogen Jellyfish appear in all 22 biomes, the Naga in 18, the Flying Pig in 4 and the Jungle Skeleton in 1. The Wither Skeleton Horse can be ridden. The Naga's projectile is not a mob.
Other mods add Nether creatures too. L_Ender's Cataclysm brings the Ignited Revenant and the Ignited Berserker.
AdventureZ adds the Blaze Guardian, the Piglin Beast and the Nightmare. Clutter adds newts in crimson and warped forests, the Ember Tortoise in the basalt deltas and butterflies. The Wildfire from Friends & Foes lives in citadel structures in Nether biomes. Tide's fish can also be fished from lava.
The End#
| Mod | Mob types | Creatures | Spawn |
|---|---|---|---|
| 6 | Cubozoa, Dragonfly, End Fish, End Slime, Shadow Walker, Silk Moth | 25 Better End biomes, 18 with spawner lists; Endermen in all of them |
Cataclysm adds the Ender Golem and the Endermaptera to the End. AdventureZ adds the Ender Whale and the Enderwarthog. Clutter adds the Echofin in the End highlands, and Tide's config lets you fish in the void of the End. The dragon fight has its own mob rules; they are on The Ender Dragon.
The Aether#
The Aether adds 21 mob types, three of them bosses (Slider, Sun Spirit and Valkyrie Queen). Thirteen types are in the spawner lists of the four Aether biomes, and ServerCore gives the realm its own spawn categories and caps: 15 surface monsters, 5 darkness monsters, 4 sky monsters and 1 Aerwhale.
| Group | Creatures |
|---|---|
| Hostile or neutral (10) | Aechor Plant, Cockatrice, Evil Whirlwind, Fire Minion, Mimic, Sentry, Valkyrie, Zephyr, Blue Swet, Golden Swet |
| Passive (7) | Aerbunny, Aerwhale, Flying Cow, Moa, Phyg, Sheepuff, Whirlwind |
| Summoned (1) | Cloud Minion |
| Boss (3) | Slider, Sun Spirit, Valkyrie Queen |
The Mimic, Sentry, Fire Minion and Valkyrie are dungeon mobs. The Moa, Phyg and Flying Cow can be saddled and ridden; see Animals, Pets & Mounts. The add-on
Aether Addon: Protect Your Moa gives Moas chests and craftable armour.
The Otherside#
Deeper and Darker adds 8 mob types: Shattered, Sculk Snapper, Sculk Centipede, Sculk Leech, Shriek Worm, Sludge, Angler Fish and the Stalker, which has a boss bar. They spawn in the Otherside biomes Deeplands, Echoing Forest and Blooming Caverns, and in the vanilla Deep Dark. The Stalker waits in an Ancient Temple. The Sculk Snapper is a tameable class, but its taming item was not checked.
Eternal Starlight#
Eternal Starlight adds 33 mob types: 12 animals, 12 monsters, two golems (Aethersent and Grimstone), two NPCs (Boarwarf and Astral Golem) and five boss-type creatures. Examples are the Aurora Deer, Starfire Bird, Crystallized Moth, Shimmer Lacewing, Thirst Walker, Stranghoul, Ratlin, Yeti and Ent.
The realm has 23 biomes, 22 of them with spawner lists, and 17 own mob types appear in those lists. Every mob's canSpawn setting is on, and mobSpawnPreventionRange is 6. A Crystallized Moth can be tamed with meat, according to its advancement text.
The five boss-type creatures are Solar Creeper, The Gatekeeper, Starlight Golem, Lunar Monstrosity and Permafrost. The Bosses pages count four of them as boss-bar bosses and treat Permafrost as a mini-boss.
The Twilight Forest#
The Twilight Forest is a native Fabric port and adds 58 mob types: 41 hostile, 9 passive and 8 bosses. The hostile group includes the tamed Loyal Zombie and Lich Minion. Examples are the Bighorn Sheep, Boar, Deer, Redcap, Kobold, Troll, Wraith, Yeti, Hedge Spider, Fire Beetle and Minotaur. The boss-bar bosses are the Alpha Yeti, Hydra, Knight Phantom, Twilight Lich, Minoshroom, Naga, Snow Queen and Ur-Ghast.
The realm has 22 biomes and 19 have spawner lists. Vanilla mobs such as zombies, skeletons, spiders, creepers, witches, endermen, slimes, bats, wolves and chickens are mixed into those lists. Dungeon mobs spawn from structures. TickMender has a performance hook for the realm's spawn-list lookup that changes no gameplay. The quest book has no quests for the Twilight Forest.
The Astral Dimension#
Astral Dimension runs through
Sporran, the layer that lets NeoForge mods load on Fabric. It adds 82 mob types, six of them boss-bar bosses: Anomal, Jailor, Tower of Malice, Void Giant, Void Titan and Void Visage. The mod has 88 entity classes in total; six are technical and not counted.
Of the 82 counted creatures, 59 are monsters, 20 are other pathfinding creatures, two are tameable (Nihlin and Baby Amethyst Crab) and one is an animal (Fiery Cow). Examples are the Pigail, Bovelin, Nost, Nanta, Ghospuff, Manikin, Solar Bear, Void Worm, Void Centipede and Smash Beetle. 30 own mob types appear in the spawn rules of the realm's biomes, such as Amethyst Meadow, Fiery Forest, Frozen Harsh Barrens, Electric Swamp and Lunar Canyon.
Pigail and Solar Bear exist in saddled form, and the mod adds an Electrified Saddle. Several Astral creatures have a lot of health without a boss bar, so the wiki does not call them bosses.
Cataclysm across realms#
L_Ender's Cataclysm also runs through Sporran. It adds 39 mob types, eight with a boss bar: Ender Guardian, Ignis, The Harbinger, The Leviathan, Ancient Remnant, Maledictus, Netherite Monstrosity and Scylla. The regular creatures include the five Deepling types, the Draugr, Koboleton, Ignited Berserker, Ender Golem, Amethyst Crab and Lionfish. 36 are monsters and three are tameable: Modern Remnant, Netherite Ministrosity and The Baby Leviathan.
The Deeplings, the Coral Golem, the Amethyst Crab and the Koboleton spawn in the Overworld and are on Creatures of the Overworld. The rest spawn through the mod's own biome and structure modifiers in the Nether, the End and structures; that code was not read. The Storm Serpent is an effect, not a mob. The Ender Guardian, Netherite Monstrosity, Ignis, Harbinger, Leviathan, Ancient Remnant, Maledictus and Scylla ignore the mob-griefing rule, while the Ender Golem, Kobolediator and Clawdian follow it.
Spawning in the realms#
Each modded realm has its own spawner lists in its biomes, so the vanilla caps do not drive them alone. The Aether has its own ServerCore categories. Eternal Starlight uses a mobSpawnPreventionRange of 6, and the Astral Dimension and the Otherside have no such setting. Nytheria changes no game rule for spawning, so doMobSpawning and mobGriefing keep their vanilla defaults in every realm. The cap values themselves are listed on Mobs & Creatures.
Dungeon and structure spawners work separately from biome lists. Cataclysm uses a structure modifier, Variants & Ventures keeps its spawners on, and the Twilight Forest and the Aether place dungeon mobs through their structures. Magnum Torches do not stop these spawns.
Riding and taming in the realms#
The Aether's Moa, Phyg and Flying Cow take a saddle, and a Nature Staff commands tamed Moas. The Swet Cape lets you ride Swets. In the Nether you can ride a Wither Skeleton Horse from Eternal Nether, and AdventureZ lets you hatch a Dragon and saddle it. The Astral Dimension has the Electrified Saddle. The details are on Animals, Pets & Mounts.
In the quest book#
The Aether chapter A Door of Water and Light asks you to hatch a Moa egg and to kill three Zephyrs. Parts 8 and 9, The Far Shore and The Stars, take you to the End and to Eternal Starlight and ask you to fight creatures there. The quest book has no quests for the Twilight Forest, the Astral Dimension or Cataclysm.
