Quest Book
Part 6: The Sky Above
Part 6 of the Nytheria quest book covers the Aether: two chapters and 31 quests, from the glowstone portal to three locked dungeons and their bosses. See what to bring and which quest opens Part 7.
Part 6, The Sky Above, is the Aether part of the quest book. It has two chapters and 31 quests. A Door of Water and Light gets you into the sky dimension and through its basics, and Three Locked Dungeons sends you against the Slider, the Valkyrie Queen and the Sun Spirit. <!-- src: Q §1.2, §2.6 -->
The part opens when you complete A Blade Worth the Trip, the capstone of Forge and Gauntlet in Part 5: The Burning Road, and that one quest opens both chapters. Inside the part, The Sun Spirit is the gate that opens Part 7: The Listening Dark. A Door of Water and Light is not a gate, so you can skip ahead without finishing it. <!-- src: Q §1.5, §2.6 -->
The book does not lock the Aether itself: it checks quests, not dimensions. You can build the portal earlier if you have the glowstone. See The Aether. <!-- src: Q §7 -->
At a glance#
| Chapter | Quests | Required | Optional (hidden) | What you do |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| A Door of Water and Light | 17 | 14 | 3 | Light the portal, explore the Aether, hatch a moa, craft zanite and gravitite gear |
| Three Locked Dungeons | 14 | 12 | 2 | Beat the bronze, silver and gold dungeon bosses with their keys |
As in the earlier parts, every optional quest is hidden, so every visible quest is required. The hidden ones are named only in the spoiler blocks at the end. <!-- src: Q §2.0, §1.4 -->
A Door of Water and Light#
There is a sky above the sky. She had proof. <!-- src: Q §1.2 -->
What you do#
This chapter has 17 quests, 14 of them required, and starts with Four Thousand Down. It is the Aether primer. <!-- src: Q §2.6 -->
You bring 10 glowstone for the portal (Glowstone and Nerve) and step through (Above the Sky). In the Aether you visit its biomes and structures from
The Aether: a skyroot grove, a meadow and a large aercloud. The visible quests include A Grove, A Meadow in the Clouds and Somewhere to Land. <!-- src: Q §2.6; W §1.3 -->
Then you start crafting: a skyroot pickaxe (Skyroot), the Book of Lore (The Book of Lore), 16 ambrosium (Ambrosium), zanite (Zanite) and finally gravitite armour (Gravitite, the capstone). You also find a moa egg and hatch it (An Egg, Moa) and kill 3 zephyrs (The Zephyr). <!-- src: Q §2.6; data/quests.json titles -->
What to bring#
- 10 glowstone for the portal frame and a bucket of water, because water lights the frame. <!-- src: Q §2.6; W §1.3 -->
- Food and tools, and a bed: beds work in the Aether, but respawn anchors do not. <!-- src: W §1.5 -->
- Golden parachutes. The pack gives you a Book of Lore and golden parachutes when you first enter, and the kit from Above the Sky includes more. <!-- src: W §1.3; Q §2.6, §4.4 -->
Rewards#
- Above the Sky pays a choice of one kit from What to Carry Up: 2 golden parachutes, 16 golden carrots or 8 ambrosium torches. It also pays 2 more golden parachutes, 3 levels and 1 ember. <!-- src: Q §2.6, §4.4 -->
- The capstone, Gravitite, pays a Lamplighter's Cache roll and 5 levels. <!-- src: Q §2.6 -->
- Chapter totals: 25 XP levels, 1 ember, eight Traveller's and four Lamplighter's Cache rolls. <!-- src: Q §2.0, §2.6 -->
Three Locked Dungeons#
Bronze, silver, gold. Two drawn from inside. <!-- src: Q §1.2 -->
What you do#
This chapter has 14 quests, 12 of them required, and starts with Not With This Knee. It covers the three Aether dungeons, one after the other. <!-- src: Q §2.6 -->
Each dungeon has a boss and a key. You beat the bronze Slider (The Slider) and take the bronze key (A Bronze Key). You then collect 10 victory medals (Victory Medals) before the silver Valkyrie Queen (The Valkyrie Queen), and take the silver key (A Silver Key). The gold dungeon belongs to the Sun Spirit (The Sun Spirit), with the gold key (A Gold Key). Along the way you pick up a cloud staff (A Staff of Cloud), a flaming sword (The Flaming Sword) and a valkyrie lance (The Lance). The capstone, Life Shards, asks for a life shard. <!-- src: Q §2.6; data/quests.json titles -->
The three bosses#
| Boss | Dungeon | HP | Main drops |
|---|---|---|---|
| Slider | Bronze | 400 | bronze key, 7-9 carved stone |
| Valkyrie Queen | Silver | 500 | silver key, golden sword |
| Sun Spirit | Gold | 500 | gold key, sun altar |
All three are covered by the pack's Boss Ultimatum setting. From the third player it kills, every further player death restores the boss to half of its maximum health. More on the realm is on The Aether. <!-- src: BM §2.10 -->
What to bring#
- Strong armour and healing food for three boss fights; Aether armour sets need gloves to use their set abilities in this pack. <!-- src: Q §2.6; W §1.3 -->
- The three keys the chapter asks for: bronze, silver and gold. Each boss drops its own dungeon key. <!-- src: Q §2.6; BM §2.5 -->
Rewards#
- The three boss quests pay a Deep Road Cache roll plus a diamond. The Sun Spirit pays 10 levels, tied for the largest single XP reward in the book, and 1 ember. The gold key pays 2 embers. <!-- src: Q §2.6, §4.1, §4.5 -->
- Lamplighter's Cache rolls on the other quests. <!-- src: Q §2.6 -->
- Chapter totals: 32 XP levels, 3 embers, four Deep Road, four Lamplighter's and three Traveller's Cache rolls. <!-- src: Q §2.0, §2.6 -->
Tips for this part#
- If you fall out of the Aether you arrive in the Overworld, because the pack leaves that on. A golden parachute is worth carrying. <!-- src: W §1.3 -->
- Tools from outside the Aether are weakened on Aether blocks, so use the Aether's own tools for the mining quests. <!-- src: W §1.3 -->
- The Life Shard cap is 10 in the pack. <!-- src: W §1.3 -->
- Items are never consumed by quests, so you keep your ambrosium and zanite. <!-- src: Q §5 -->
- Click each reward yourself; each team member claims their own copy. <!-- src: Q §4.2 -->
