Quest Book
Part 2: Hearth and Home
Part 2 of Nytheria's quest book - five chapters and 74 quests about cooking, baking, farming, fishing and storage, nearly all optional, with what to bring and the choice kit each chapter pays.
Part 2, Hearth and Home, is the kitchen, farm and home part of the quest book. It has 5 chapters and 74 quests, and nearly all of them are optional. All five chapters open together when you finish Under the Spruce in Part 1, and nothing else in the book waits for them, so you can play them whenever you like.
At a glance#
| Chapter | Quests | Required | Optional | Hidden | What you do |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| A Roof and a Pot | 16 | 1 | 12 | 3 | Farmer's Delight cooking: pot, board, skillet, stove, soups and salads |
| The Long Table | 16 | 1 | 13 | 2 | Baking, wine and tea, and a table to share them at |
| Fields and Fences | 13 | 1 | 10 | 2 | Farming, animals, cheese and a herd |
| Still Water | 14 | 1 | 11 | 2 | Fishing with Tide, beach gear and a coconut cocktail |
| Shelves and Signposts | 15 | 1 | 12 | 2 | Storage, furniture and a home you can find again |
Each chapter has exactly one required quest, its capstone. Optional quests are there for exploration and flavour; every chapter pays its capstone with a choice of one item from a kit.
Order and pacing#
The five chapters are independent of each other, so you can start with the one that matches your next need. The tasks are mostly item tasks: you collect the item and keep it, and nothing is taken from you. The kitchen chapters are quick to start, but the wine in The Long Table and the long fishing chain in Still Water take real time.
Task counts per chapter: A Roof and a Pot has 17 tasks, The Long Table 22, Fields and Fences 19, Still Water 16 and Shelves and Signposts 17, 91 tasks in the 74 quests.
A Roof and a Pot#
Salt, a knife, a pot, and a fire to put it on.
What you do#
This chapter is the Farmer's Delight kitchen. Place a campfire (Salt and Sense, an optional quest: any campfire counts), then get a cutting board, a knife, a cooking pot, a skillet and a stove. Cook a salad and a vegetable soup, hang tomatoes on a rope, craft a basket and hold 8 foods. 15 of the 16 quests are optional. The only required quest, The Pot That Travels, wants a cooking pot and 16 foods in your inventory, and it does not consume them.
What to bring#
You need
Farmer's Delight Refabricated. The pot, board, skillet and stove are craftable in the early game:

The [Let's Do]
[Let's Do] Farm & Charm pot is a cheaper alternative for the kitchen in general (iron and a wooden shovel), but the quests ask for the Farmer's Delight items by name.

Tips for this part#
- Play this part whenever food, farming or storage are your problem. It needs only the journal, not a gate.
HungerDial makes hunger drain at 65 % of vanilla speed, so every meal lasts longer.
AppleSkin shows food values in tooltips.- Items are never consumed, so one stack of food or one cooking pot finishes many quests.
- Claim each reward by hand, especially the capstone kits.
- Choose the kit item you will use soon: bread for the road, bone meal or an iron hoe for the farm, a rod or bait for the water.
For a full picture of the food mods, see Farming & Cooking.
