Bosses of Mass Destruction adds four bosses with a boss bar and no mini-bosses, one for the Overworld surface, one underground, one in the Nether and one in the End. This page belongs to the Bosses hub and covers all four. The mod does not run through Sporran; it is a native Fabric mod.

All four are covered by Boss Ultimatum, and the quest book asks for every one of them. The first two are the early bosses of Part 4: The Deep, the Gauntlet belongs to Part 5: The Burning Road, and the Obsidilith to Part 8: The Far Shore.

At a glance#

HP, armor and attack are the numbers the pack sets in the mod's config file (bosses_of_mass_destruction.json5). "-" means the facts give no value.

Night Lich#

The Night Lich waits in a lich tower in the Overworld. It has 300 HP and gives 1,500 XP when it dies.

Where and how to start the fight#

The tower is a structure in the Overworld's cold biomes: snowy taiga, snowy plains, snowy slopes, ice spikes, frozen peaks, snowy beach and frozen ocean. Towers are placed with a spacing of 100 and a separation of 50, so expect them far apart. For finding structures in general, see Structures and dungeons.

The pack's config awards a Soul Star for every 50 undead mobs you kill. It is not confirmed here how the fight itself starts, so check the tower when you get there.

The fight#

The facts give numbers only: 300 HP and Boss Ultimatum applies. From the third player the Lich kills, every further player death restores it to half of its maximum health. See Boss Ultimatum.

Drops#

The Lich drops two Ancient Anima, bones, 5 to 7 diamonds and 5 enchanted books.

In the quest book#

In The City That Listens the quest Night Vanquisher asks for the kill and pays a diamond on top of its Deep Road Cache. In the side chapter Titans of Nytheria, Too Cold collects the Ancient Anima.

Void Blossom#

The Void Blossom lives in a cave structure under the Overworld. It has 350 HP, armor 4 and an attack value of 12.

Where and how to start the fight#

Its cave structure sits under many biomes: plains, forest, taiga, jungle, beach, mountains, ocean, desert, savanna, swamp, and the lush and dripstone caves. Placement uses a spacing of 64 and a separation of 24, closer than the lich towers. The structure is underground, so you need to dig or follow a cave to reach it.

The fight#

The facts give HP, armor and attack, plus the Boss Ultimatum rule: from the third player it kills, every further player death restores it to half of its maximum health.

Drops#

The Void Blossom drops two Void Thorns and 2 to 3 Crystal Fruit.

In the quest book#

A Flower in the Dark in The City That Listens asks for the kill and also pays a diamond. In Titans of Nytheria, Too Deep collects the Void Thorn.

Nether Gauntlet#

The Nether Gauntlet fights in a sealed blackstone arena in the Nether. It has 250 HP, armor 8 and attack 16.

Where and how to start the fight#

The arena can generate in any Nether biome. In the quest book, the quest Sealed Blackstone asks you to find the arena, and Through the Gauntlet asks for the defeat. The arena is walled in, so plan your way in and out before you start. See The Nether for the dimension itself.

The fight#

The facts record 250 HP, armor 8 and attack 16, and Boss Ultimatum covers it. When it dies the arena produces ancient debris (spawnAncientDebrisOnDeath is on).

Drops#

The arena chest holds the Blazing Eye. Killing the Gauntlet also spawns ancient debris, which is the raw material for netherite.

In the quest book#

Forge and Gauntlet asks for both quests above, and Through the Gauntlet pays a diamond on top of its Deep Road Cache. The chapter also asks for the Blazing Eye itself. In Titans of Nytheria, Too Loud collects the Blazing Eye and gilded blackstone.

Obsidilith#

The Obsidilith fights in an arena in the End. It has 300 HP, armor 14 and attack 16, the highest armor of the four.

Where and how to start the fight#

Its arena lies on the outer End islands: highlands, midlands, small islands and barrens. According to the quest text, you start the fight by placing an eye in the arena's altar. See The End for the dimension.

The fight#

The facts give 300 HP, armor 14 and attack 16 and nothing about its attack patterns. Boss Ultimatum covers it, so repeated deaths will cost you.

Drops#

The arena chest holds the Obsidian Heart and a roll on the End city treasure table.

In the quest book#

The Standing Stone in Past the Last Island asks for the kill. Too Bright in Titans of Nytheria collects the Obsidian Heart.

In the quest book#

Three chapters ask for these bosses, and the Titans side chapter collects one drop from each.

  • The City That Listens (Part 4) counts the Night Lich and the Void Blossom by advancement. Each of the two boss quests pays a Deep Road Cache roll and a diamond. The chapter's capstone, The Heart, asks for the Deeper and Darker Heart of the Deep and opens both chapters of Part 5.
  • Forge and Gauntlet (Part 5) asks you to find the Gauntlet's arena and then to defeat it. Its capstone, A Blade Worth the Trip, opens Part 6. See Chapter gates.
  • Past the Last Island (Part 8) names the Obsidilith among the outer End tasks.
  • Titans of Nytheria is an optional side chapter. Its quests Too Cold, Too Deep, Too Loud and Too Bright each pay 4 XP levels for one drop. The chapter's capstone needs only one of its 16 "Too ..." quests.

Preparation#

All four bosses are covered by Boss Ultimatum, which makes repeated deaths at the same boss expensive from the third onwards. The rule counts only the players that the boss kills itself. Read the Boss Ultimatum section before you go in.

Notes#

  • The quest book asks for these four bosses by advancement or kill task. The exact way the fight begins at each arena was not checked in play for this page.
  • The facts give no armor or attack value for the Night Lich, so none is listed.
